Go out and run everyday.

I have lost 40 lbs. in 3 months and I know this will work. Eat small healthy meals every 2-3 hours, eat your last meal 2-3 hours before you go to sleep. Exercise 3-4 days (or more if you can) a week, include weight training and especially cardio (walking especially running). If you set your mind to lose the weight you will lose it and when you start seeing how good you look you’ll want to keep going.
Good Luck

Eat about half of what you have been eating. also, if you can avoid dinner, it is better. i don’t want to tell you to starve yourself, but if you are really desperate, it kind of helps. i ate really little and lost ten pounds in a month

Much of what I write will not seem intuitive; in fact it may be the opposite of what you’ve heard or have been taught.

I can tell you that US recommendations to eat less fat and more carbohydrates made us what we are today: the number one most obese nation in the world.

And I must alert you that the (processed) food industry has much to do with the dietary recommendations the US makes.

What we eat makes the difference. Sadly, exercise is not a proven weight loss method. HOWEVER, you should be physically active, as exercise provides many, many other benefits.

Check with your doctor, and your parents if you are under 18 years of age, before starting any diet.

This said, I like using and recommending the Low Carb(ohydrate) Food Pyramid. You eat mostly the non-starchy vegetables on the bottom. Your second-most foods are meats, fish, eggs, poultry, found in the second tier, etc. Notice pasta and grains are the least eaten group as they are found at the top, and sweets are nowhere on this (I consider sweets a very occasional indulgence). This way of eating is not just a good plan for now, but can sustain good health for the rest of your life. If the pyramid is followed exactly, calorie counting is usually not necessary.

To me this pyramid makes metabolic sense: abundant non-starchy veggies, ample meats/eggs/poultry/fish, light on fruits (whole fruit only–no juices), some dairy and cold pressed oils such as extra-virgin olive oil (no soy/corn/safflower oils–these oils are processed at high temperatures and have traces of pesticides) and almost no pastas or grains. Notice no “low fat” or processed meats or dairy are represented in this pyramid. No additives/preservatives (MSG is shown to cause obesity, e.g.).

If you are an athlete you may need more carbohydrates for your events. From my research the best breads to eat, whatever your diet, are sprouted grain and sourdough breads. These breads are less likely to cause blood sugar problems. Top them with real, organic butter. Pasture finished butter is better; cultured, raw, pasture finished butter unsalted or salted with sea salt is ideal (but devilishly hard to find). You can also up your carbohydrates with whole fruits.

A good rule of thumb is to shop the perimeter of the grocery store (veggies, fruits, meats, cheeses; no processed foods), absolutely avoid sodas and fast foods, and eat what tastes good. Fructose of any kind can contribute to weight gain, so if you are really serious about immediate weight loss you can stop fruit for a time as well. (Bears eat nuts and berries to fatten before hibernation—if you eat lots of nuts and berries you will fatten, too)

Avoid soy, and go easy on cruciferous vegetables. These can slow your thyroid, leading to weight gain.

Three other ways to change your body composition: Get good probiotics (good bacteria) into you, eat coconut oil and good animal fats, preferably from animals finished on pastures (you may have to go to the farm or pay extra at specialty grocery stores for these), and turn down your home’s thermostat. Although we don’t know how this works, “good” bacteria help keep your body composition in check. Kefir, particularly home made, is a strong source of probiotics, as is home made yogurt (no additives, preservatives). Yogurt is easy to make at home without a yogurt maker; there are many fine methods on-line There are also a number of good probiotic products on the market these days.

Coconut oil contains medium chain triglycerides shown to reduce weight. And by helping your body produce a substance known as NAPE, natural fats, such as the natural fats in meats and cheeses, help you feel satisfied with your meals. In fact, the US recommendations against fats may have contributed to the obesity epidemic.

Being slightly cool also boosts your metabolism, causing you to lose weight, so turning down the thermostat may help more than your energy bill.

To get the most out of this eating plan you must learn to cook, if you have not already done so. If you become a good cook not only will you love your food and lose weight, but you will become even more popular than you are now!
