Lose 25 Pounds FAQ:
I weigh 145 pounds. I want to lose 25 pounds by march. Basketball is starting the day after thanksgiving. If I eat about 1300-1600 calories a day, will I be able to do it? If anybody knows what else I can do, please tell me.

if you cut out like 500 calories a day you loose like a pound by the end of the week, its something like that, but diet and exercise and sleep are key to loosing weight.
Get away from the computer…. Every second you are on Yahoo Answers, you gain a pound…
you will be fine just don’t obsess about it
You didn’t mention how old you are so, let me start by telling you you can do this thing. I recommend that you pick up a copy of a book written by Kimberley Tessmer who is a registered dietitian. It is called “The Everything Nutrition Book”. If you really want to live a happy, healthy and long life, you will read this book. Good luck and remember for $14.95 you can live healthily the rest of your life.
Keep in mind a pound of fat contains 3500 calories. If you make a deficit of 500 calories per day(five day/ week…enjoy weekends to cut cravings) you can safely lose 1-2 pounds per week and keep it off. There are a lot of quick fixes but as soon as you stop you’ll gain it all back just as quick. If you see a diet that promise quick weightloss, it is likely to be a 5-10 water weight loss…not what u want. Also, if u are working out, u have the potential to lose so much more. I would recommend eating the portion sizes(in the nutri. facts box) of the foods you like, include greenleafy veggies, whole grains(not multi grain, whole grain), 2-5 servings fruit/ day, lots of water, and low fat foods(be careful of the words “reduced fat”and” lite” and look for the words “low fat” thats what u want) any more questions feel free to ask (workouts, meal plans, calorie intake charts)
so good luck and i hope this helps

Start a running plan.
Start out slow, possibly fast/power walking for a mile every other day. Do this for 2 weeks. Move up to running a half mile then walking the other half mile. Increasing your running as much as you can. Try to do this 4 or 5 days a week, for another 2 weeks. Get up to running 2 miles then fast walking for a mile and then normal walking for a mile. Try to get to this point by the end of January. Then see if you can do 3 miles somewhere in this 4 mile workout. Try to do it 5 days a week. All the while, tell yourself how strong, fit and trim you are, and that your body is getting thinner and sleek in the most perfect way, right before your eyes.
This will also help you in your basketball.
For the first time in my life I ate a good breakfast every day and had about 3 more small meals for the rest of the day. I never ate until I was ’stuffed’. It felt better to leave the table a bit underfull. Fool yourself, put your food portions on a smaller plate so that it looks like a lot. I love my sweets, so I’d give myself those small Halloween sized candy bars once or twice a day. Truly, I pretty much ate what I wanted, only in smaller portions. I firmly believe that moderation is the key AND that if you listen to your body it tells you what you should have (give me more water, give me more fruit, give me more protein, etc.).
I followed the above regimen and while I lost only an actual weight of 13-15 pounds …EVERYONE thought I had lost at least 25 pounds. It was because I was gaining muscle, while losing the fat and muscle weighs more than fat. I went from a size 14-16 down to a size 6-8. My weight started out at 160 and now I’m 145. I am 5′5″. I have been near to this weight for the past month. I just weighed myself at my daughter’s home yesterday.
Oh…another thing.
I do NOT have a scale, and that in itself kept me going. I just went by how my clothes fit and how WONDERFUL I felt.
I am a 53 year old female.
