Don’t worry man. Do a lot of cardio and drink a gallon of water a day. It would also be a good idea to do some light lifting along with this. You’ll lose those 15-25 pounds doing this.
Cardio is a must– 30 to 45 mins of it 4x a week and a low carb diet will do. Here are some low carb food lists for you to refer to:
Your on the right track, cutting out soda and beer is 1st on the check list.
Next is to start liking Tuna fish.
Eat a serving of tuna for lunch every day. Oatmeal and fruit or something like that for breakfast. And chicken or meat with veg. for dinner and you will shed pounds just being awake.
Start dong push ups…..body weight squats…..or wall sits to get your muscles boosted, because the more muscle you have the easier you burn fat.
I’m in the same situation. I am lifting heavy weight and managing cardio as well to drop the weight.
1. Warm up with a 5km or 40 minute run on the days that I am weight lifting.
2. Run 10km or 60 minutes on the days that I am not lifting (I would normally use this day as an ‘abs day’).
–I don’t enjoy running, I don’t have a body naturally inclined for running but I have found it to be the most effective weight loss exercise; interval training is best - you run hard for 2 or so minutes and then run slow for 2 or so minutes. I do this over x distance or x time.
3. Watch your diet and portion sizes. Drop excess alcohol, fat and sugars, make a reasonable cut on your carbs, but remember this is also a good energy food so don’t cut out too much.
I personally LOVE chocolate and beer/wine so have not totally cut this out of my diet. I would eat a small portion of chocolate every day and drink at least 1-2 times per week when I go out (not to excess). The important thing I have found with diets is that you shouldn’t try to make huge changes at once or else your future endeavours to maintain a balanced diet is more likely to fail. A little bit here and there is fine. I also have one day per week when I don’t “diet” and just eat whatever I want and however much of it I want.
I would be inclined to focus more on cardio training in the first 3-4 wks but don’t do away with your weight lifting programme. Your lean muscle uses a lot of energy and so cardio and weight lifting combined with a healthy eating programme will help a lot in dropping your extra fat.
Good luck.
If you want to lose that amount of weight, you should do cardiovascular exercises at least three times a week, thirty minutes a day. The more days or the longer you do this kind of training doesn’t mean you’ll lose more weight, it means that you’ll burn more calories. It sounds a little strange, but diet is intricately involved as well. If you exercise and consume a very small amount of calories every day, you’ll lose lean tissue. This is because your body isn’t getting what it needs, thus it will use a clever way to sustain the activities you put it through. Having more lean tissue, like muscle, than fat, is extremely helpful in your objective. Lean tissue burns more calories than does adipose tissue, or the storage area for fat. If you wish to lose fat around the areas you said, prepare to sweat constantly. Running, jogging, and even walking burns calories very effectively. However, like I said, you must sweat continuously. For your health, do not go on a low-carbohydrate diet. Carbohydrates are your friends, not your enemies. There are simple carbs, such as sugars, and there are complex carbs, such as starches. Glycogen and most fibers are considered to be complex carbohydrates too. Consume more complex carbs than simple carbs and you’ll be all set. You should try aiming for no more than ¼ being simple carbs and ¾ being complex carbs. You may have more sugars every now and then if you wish, since you’re going to be active. Carbohydrates will assist you in your goal to lose the weight you want, since they are the preferred source of fuel for the human body. Thus, proper dieting is just as important as hitting the gym.
