To lose weight, a person has to reduce the calorie intake by some amount by modifying their diet. A diet without sufficient nutrients will only increase the appetite of the person trying to lose weight. Since most people combine a diet with an exercise plan, additional nutrients are required for the growth of muscles required to increase the metabolic rate required for long term weight loss. Absolutely no carbs and no sugar. So this means you have to cut out alot of things. There is sugar in almost everything. I suggest you eat meat and veges for every meal. Its not hard, just have a different meat and different veges for every meal. No breads, no white flour products. You can do it, Ive done it for 9 months, docs orders tho.

Good luck, you are gonna be a new you by Christmas!

Continue your current workout..maybe even increase your physical workout such as work in a little run time or bike time. walk with weights and increase your speed.

Also, you could go on a no carb or no sugar diet, like the South Beach diet. You should loose 8-15 pounds in the first 2 weeks. If you stay true to it and continue it until Christmas, you should drop some pounds as long as you stay active.

The biggest thing is to drink more water.
If you’d like to know only about diet ask your doctor to refer you to a nutritionist, that way you can discuss your lifestyle & work with it instead of trying a whole new difficult approach.
In general, though, try to eat 3-4 vegetable servings a day, and 4-5 fruit servings a day.
Everyone has their own opinion about proteins and carbs so I won’t advise you on that, but try to cut your meal portions down to a little over a half of what you eat now.

Keep doing what you are already doing! You definitely have a realistic goal if you start today. You may want to gradually increase your walking time, aiming for 60 minutes a day.

I suggest you select on of the thousand diets existing on the net but be selective and take one from a reputable place like mayo clinic. If those 25 pounds are a substantial percentage of your weight now consult a doc.

My advice, no dieting. I have struggled with my weight my whole life and I can tell you diets work well - in the short term. Although, I did lose 45 pounds on TrimSpa last year.

Basically, reduce your portions. Be sure to eat a good, high fiber breakfast every single day. Have a small snack (like grapes or an apple) mid-morning. Have a healthy small lunch. Each an afternoon snack and have a SMALL dinner. Do not eat within 3 hours of going to bed. Make sure you are not starving yourself. If you do not get enough calories, your body will go into “starvation mode” and store fat. Then, everything you eat will be stored as fat and you will gain weight.

Drink LOTS of water. Eat a variety of soluable and insoluable fiber. This will “help keep things moving” and give you a feeling of being full.

Your exercise plan sounds good. If you keep that up alone, you should see some results. It is not healthy to lose more than 1-2 pounds a week.

It’s all about lifestyle changes. Don’t listen to these people telling you to try some crash diet. Yes, you want to limit your sugars and fats, and choose wheat bread and pasta over white. But you need carbs for energy and you need calories to survive.

Good luck!

Cut out “bad” carbs…that means all the refined white stuff like white flour, sugar and potatos. Did you know that a white potatoe is higher on the glycemic index than a candy bar? Of course we may be tired of hearing the same old thing about eating your veggies but it is true. If you have a juicer that will help you get your 5-7 serving. Walk every day in the fresh air. Baby will love it too! Good luck!

Its best to talk to a Dr. first. And they will usually tell you that all those fad diets are only short term. You want something to lose the weight and then maintain a good healthy lifestyle. I had a baby a year ago and I have been working on losing weight.

Your best bet is to count your calories and continue to work out the way you have been. You might find you can walk a little brisker too sometimes. And slowly start toning 3-4 times a week. That way if you do it nice and slow you will work up a routine and find that it becomes a way of life for you. You should definitely be able to take off 25 pounds by Christmas

I just lost 20 pounds in one month by eating all fruits, vegetables and a little egg whites, cottage cheese and meats. Broiled or baked chicken without skin, fish and a small amount of meat.
The trick is to eat 6 mini meals, every three hours. Examples
1st breakfast, 1 cup oatmeal and a cup of skim milk. Second breakfast a banana and a 1/2cup fat free cottage cheese. Lunch
cup of vegetable soup ,a vegetable and a fruit, or a salad with fat free dressing and a sweet potato with nothing on it and another glass of skim milk. Snack 5wheatable crackers with fat free Laughing cow cheese with baby carrots and a piece of fruit. Dinner small piece of chicken or fish with 1/2cup brown rice a nd a vegetable. Snack, fat free/sugar free pudding or a sugar free Popsicle or a fat free yogurt and another glass of skim milk. The extra milk keeps you full and healthy. The exercise is great but you need to increase a little a couple of times a week. Don’t worry once the pounds start melting you will get more and more motivated. If you purchase any exercise machine the elliptical trainer is awesome but expensive. A more reasonably priced machine is called the power rider (look it up on the Internet) I spent $200 on mine but my sister found one on E-bay for $100.
Its shaped like a bicycle but its a pushing motion that works out everything; stomach, legs and arms. Drop me an e on this site if you want or need more info.

1)Reduce bread products - one slice sandwich instead of 2 slices - and eat only fat free or low fat.
2) No tomato products - pizza, spaghetti sauce, juice
3) No sodas
4)No chips - substitute fat free pretzels
5)Reduce milk products - add a calcium supplement - eat fat free yogurt a few times each week.
6)No fruit juices - eat fresh fruit and dried fruit daily
7)Reduce meat portions to 3oz-50z per day. Add in an egg every few days for protein.
8)No fatty meats - no deli meats, no hotdogs, no pork products
9)No fried foods
10) Reduce caffeine but no decaffeneited products
11)No creamed soups
12)Drink water, but not too much.
Read the fat grams on the label, try to eat only fat free or low fat everything, including sauces & dressings.

30 minutes per day isn’t enough. Try to add in a 15 minute workout somewhere - a brisk walk, aerobics, swimming.

You can do this, good luck….

Target about 1.5 lbs per week. Here are some ideas from my 360 Blog September 10.

There is no site specific way of losing fat… the old myth about working your abs to burn belly fat isn’t true. To get rid of love handles, you need to lose overall fat. That happens with exercise and watching your diet. More on that below.

The most effective way to lose fat is aerobic exercise in the “moderate” fat-burning range, ideally first thing in the morning before you eat. When you wake your body is ready to burn fat and your levels of growth hormone are highest at that time. Later in the day it can take up to 30 minutes just to put your body into a fat-burning mode.

Another overlooked way to burn fat is by lifting weights. Skeletal muscle has very high caloric needs… almost twice that of adipose (fat) tissue. Put on a little muscle and you will burn calories all day even at rest. Be aware that skeletal muscle weighs more, so with this approach you may see your weight increasing while your body fat is melting away. Not realizing this often stresses folks who think they should be losing weight as a measure of fitness. Forget the scale, look in the mirror and you will be happy.

For diet, keep a diary for a couple of weeks counting calories, grams of protein, and grams of fat intake. It is easy with online sources of nutritional information (type the name of the food and calories into the Google search engine) and packaging labels. That will let you quickly figure out where the fat is coming from in your diet.

Fat gives you 9 calories per gram. So take the number of grams of fat, multiply by 9, then calculate what percentage the fat calories are of your total daily calories. Restricting the calories from fat to about 20% of your total intake is ideal for a maintenance diet… that isn’t overly restrictive. Of note, you need some fat in your diet. For instance, the body uses fat to produce hormones. Once you have a picture of how to modify your diet, you can drop the diary and just go back to it occasionally if you are wanting to tweek things further.

There is a subset of questions that goes further and asks about “How to get a six-pack?” The answer is the same. Six-packs are 20% abdominal exercise and 80% diet. There is one caveat… abdominal muscles will form in the position that you exercise them, so be certain to pull them tightly toward your spine while doing crunches, etc. Also, during most lifting, the “core is active” which means that you should be stabilizing with contracted abs then too. Fail to do this and the abs will form, but bulging outward and the result is not attractive.

If you are trying to build muscle as a way to lose fat, then you may need to increase total calories and specifically your protein intake. I target about 0.8 g of protein per pound of body weight each day when actively building. That is far more protein than most people need in their diets.

Aloha

I lost 95 lbs in 8 months using a plan called Shapeworks, it was a simple plan to follow. I have kept the weight off for over 4 years now, which is the hardest part of weight loss. Here is where I got it from:
